One Thousand Pair of Hands Coming Together to Transform Lives

Mission

Longoria ChildrenHometown Heroes is a volunteer led non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of children, families, first responders and veterans in need through a "pay it forward" approach to volunteerism and giving. By creating opportunities for thousands of inspiring volunteers, Hometown Heroes not only benefits the recipients but also those who serve.

Hometown Heroes greatly improves the lives of our neighbors in need through direct financial aid, emergency assistance and partnerships with dozens of social service organizations. We pay tribute to our nation’s soldiers and first responders through the purchase of much needed equipment. We provide opportunities for compassionate people to share their time, talent and resources with the collective goal of helping others. Statements like "giving back to the community", "making a difference thru volunteering", "paying it forward" all exemplify our thoughts on how to help others. These thoughts are what "Hometown Heroes" was founded on: the simple idea of helping others less fortunate thru volunteerism and community involvement.

History

Jim Kacmarcik of KapcoHometown Heroes was launched by philanthropist and Kapco Metal Stamping President Jim Kacmarcik in 2002 when he honored local area police, firefighters and emergency responders with a tribute after the 9-11-01 tragedies. It was a great privilege to recognize our local area "heroes".

More recently our “Hometown Heroes Family Edition” transformed the lives of a Grafton, Wisconsin family that had been stricken with many health issues and needed their home modified to accommodate their family’s growing special needs. It was a great undertaking but with help from over 1000 volunteers we pulled off this house transformation in only one month. This endeavor has improved their life and ours in the process.

Following the Longoria Family home makeover that was profiled by Dateline NBC, Hometown Heroes helped sponsor the inspiring Heaven House home build for the incredible O’Brien family. We are thrilled that our efforts are being replicated and encourage others to take this model to their own communities.

Our giving ranges from purchasing a handicapped van for a profoundly disabled young man who was immobile without it, to providing an I-Pad to a boy who was nonverbal due to his autism. In both instances, our generous contributors helped Hometown Heroes transform the lives of these young men and in so doing – their entire families.

As Kapco, Inc. underwrites the administrative expenses for the Hometown Heroes charity, 100 percent of all contributions from donors like you goes directly to our programs services. We have no staff or benefit expenses – we are managed entirely by volunteers.
